The deluge of high-throughput experimental data, together with readily available genomic information and experimental or modelled protein structures, enables large-scale integrative computational analyses of protein functions and biological processes. It can also provide insights into the functional landscape of individual proteins and protein families.
Our research vision is to understand the role of protein structures in shaping the molecular evolution of protein functions. We study the mechanistic basis of enzyme promiscuity, relationships between spider-silk sequences and their mechanical features, the effects of single-residue mutations on protein allostery, proteome diversity arising from alternative splicing, and the influence of intra-domain motions on protein function.
