We use computational approaches to address biological research problems, often incorporating knowledge of protein structures into genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics and related analyses.
How we work
This group webpage for Dr. Shashi B. Pandit was created with the efforts of current students. Our lab is located in 3TL2, Academic Block 2, IISER Mohali.
We address research problems using computational approaches and collaborate with experimental research groups. Our work encompasses, but is not limited to, computational biophysics, genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics and metagenomics. Across these areas, we often adapt traditional approaches by incorporating knowledge of protein structures.
The group provides an ambient working environment with personal seating or cubicle space, an area to relax, and regular group and research meetings. The group leader is available for scientific discussion.

Protein structures are again in focus with advances in computational prediction, including AlphaFold. The lab works on the mechanical basis of strength in proteins, structural changes and susceptibility to mutations, protein design, antibody-antigen and immunopeptidome interactions, and domain-domain packing. We combine evolutionary conservation with current computational biophysical methods. Skills acquired in the lab can support a career in either academia or industry.

Campus and location
IISER Mohali is approximately 3 km from Mohali railway station and 8 km from Chandigarh Airport. The campus is next to Chandigarh, a few hours from Shimla, and has an active academic and festive community.
